Daytime moves & night exceptions
Permitted loads move in the daytime, from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset, unless the permit authorizes night travel. Night movement is allowed for overweight-only loads, and on Interstates for loads up to 10′ wide and 100′ long with legal overhangs; other night moves need TxDOT approval after a route and traffic study. Check TxDMV's holiday dates and the hours printed on the permit.

A day the permit office is closed is not always a travel ban. TxDMV publishes a separate holiday calendar for loads over 14′ wide, 16′ high or 110′ long, with extra rules for manufactured housing. Check the current dates and the hours on your permit.
