17′6″-high load example
Example: 9′ wide × 17′6″ high, 75′ overall, 72,000 lb gross, zero overhang or rear projection, ordinary nondivisible freight in daylight. Above 15 ft high, WVDOT requires a front pole car in addition to any other escort. That extra vehicle is already included in the totals below; do not add it again. Two-lane non-Interstate roads: 1 front (height pole required) and 1 rear pilot cars. Four-or-more-lane non-Interstate roads: 1 front (height pole required) pilot car. Interstate highways: 1 front (height pole required) pilot car.

Weekend movement must be requested; after-dark movement is limited to overweight-only vehicles up to 110,000 pounds on designated multilane highways unless the agency authorizes otherwise.
