Gross and axle weight
Michigan weight legality requires complete gross, axle, group, spacing, tire, registration, bridge and route facts; GVW alone is insufficient.

General loaded height is 13′6″. Michigan's T-1 chart distinguishes designated-highway width of 102″ from non-designated-highway width of 96″; named vehicle and load exceptions have separate conditions.
Trailer length & projecting loads
For a tractor-semitrailer, T-1 lists trailer-and-load length of 50′ on non-designated highways and 53′ on designated highways. Overall combination length has no limit when the applicable trailer and route conditions are met. Front projection is limited to 3′; rear projection must remain within the applicable legal length. Rear projection of 4′ or more needs a warning flag by day and a red light by night.

Depending on the road or permit conditions: MDOT assigns escorts through the permit's numbered provisions: 11 requires a rear car; 12 requires a front car. Check those provisions for this route before booking the team. Depending on the road or permit conditions: Provision 14 requires police traffic supervision. Mackinac and International Bridge crossings have separate authority escorts and advance arrangements.

Above 13 ft 6 in, MDOT requires verification that the proposed route has been traveled for vertical clearance. Submit MDOT Form 2465 and the shipper's explanation with the superload application. A police-assigned move also needs the required motor-carrier inspection before travel.
